Before starting a Tile Installation job, always think the following factors that can create a longer, more complicated job than it should be.

  1. Difficult Surfaces

One of the main problems that many people are when starting Tile Installation jobs is a variety of difficult surfaces. Once the main old floor is removed and cleaned for the new tile surface, some floors tend to have cracks and damage while others uncover an uneven surface to work on. There are also other times when there is a significant amount of mold growth that requires attention before the actual tile installation job can begin.

  1. Unacceptable Underlayment

Choosing the best underlayment is very important for the particular area that you will be working in. One problem that many people face after installing tiles is the fact that they have chosen the wrong underlayment. 1. Rough Layout

A tile installation may seem like a simple enough job for many people, especially when working in symmetrical areas but one of the biggest problems that many encounter is an improper layout of the tiles. It's important to get the correct number of tiles and to start in the correct area. If a random spot is chosen as the starting point, there might be many places that will have smaller sized or narrow cut tiles to complete the area. Aesthetically, it looks uneven and it may also cause problems in the long run from the smaller tiles cracking or getting dislodged.

  1. Mortar Mix

Most tile installations will have mortar as a base for the tiles to stay in place and mixing the mortar properly is a snag that many have to deal with. Without a proper mortar mixture or if the tiles are being laid down too slowly, the tiles will shift throughout the job and even move out of place after the grout has been applied

Always double check the mixture ratio and mix thoroughly to get the proper consistency and make sure to work in small sections to ensure the mortar will not begin to dry up before the tiles are laid down.

  1. Improper Grouting

A final common problem that many encounter during tile installation jobs is cracking or dipping grout. Just like the mortar, the grout will crack or sink when not properly mixed. Another reason for grout dipping below the surface of the tiles is when there isn't enough grout placed between the tiles. Always add more grout than you think is needed and gently scrape the surface at an angle to ensure you don't scoop out any grout from between the tiles.
